I saw the coolest really beefy frame material in a framing shop and thought I would do a painting to frame with it. It took me several years of keeping the idea for this in the back of my mind, but when it finally came out it was exactly what I wanted. My only regret is that this was among my first attempts at the figure, and the character doesn’t look much like my friend who modeled for me. This is a victory piece for me, because while I was working on it, I was going through some very rough struggles in my life, hence the victorious attitude of the rider after surmounting his impossible mountain. It is sort of sad that when I went to get the painting framed, they no longer had the frame material it was meant for, nor could I have
