A Fish's Home is His Castle
I enjoy bringing not-so-obvious objects together.
So I created my own version of a deep sea angler with a castle
on his back. I created a lot of art pieces that had to do with
journeys, this is one of them. The piece is symbolic of my journeys
as I have worked towards reaching my goals.
I needed a tall
picture to paint onto a small
curio cabinet I had purchased with from a craft store, I wanted
to take a craft object and make it into something not-so-crafty
(at the time I was working for a craft company to support my family)
so it was sort of a sign of rebellion to paint this onto the cabinet.
I went on to paint the cabinet with metals and patinas, mixing
them against the wishes of the instructions on the bottles, and
ended up with a wonderfully peeling somewhat caustic looking finish.
The end result was very satisfying. Click here to see a photo
of the cabinet.
